So I haven't blogged in a week. Whoops. I meant to but I was feeling a bit emotional and in a very sharing mood. But it wasn't good stuff and not really anything I wanted to have out there on the web for everyone to read. However, that has passed and I'm feeling much more like myself now :)

I bought some new sheets after months of searching. I simply wanted some fun sheets that weren't pink or a blah muted shade of sage. It was really hard to find what I wanted. I finally found some at Target. Purple polka dots and aqua paisley. I'm really excited for them.

I went to buy some hot dogs to grill while BART and I watched the Tigers play this evening. Except when I got to the grocery store, the hot dog section was empty and a man was scrubbing the shelf. Hot dogs were no where to be seen. The only ones I could find were Kosher and I just didn't think those would cut it. So I got chips and dip instead because they seemed like a baseball food.

My weekend in Pittsburgh has turned out to be pretty fun.

BART's sorta-kinda boyfriend came into town to hang and he's pretty cool. On Friday, we headed out to a big mall to find one of three H&Ms in Pitt. After we returned, we tried out a bar, Silky's, that is just a few blocks away. It was pretty cool, very low key. I think we might return especially since I didn't get carded and there was no cover charge. I got slightly drunk and may have drunk facebooked people. I know I wrote on Toi's wall for sure but if anyone else got one, sorry! I realize I did not drink very much this summer and therefore my tolerance is down a bit. Oh well.

Last night, we went to a Pirates game. It was cool. The cheap tickets were only $9 and the seats weren't that bad. I think the best part was one of the Pirates got a home run and there were FIREWORKS!! The stadium was pretty neat because it is missing a wall which allows you to see the river. I loved being able to take the bus right from our apartment all the way downtown to the stadium.

Today has been very low key and not much has happened. I think I might make or get some pizza because I've been craving it lately. Our washer and dryer were delivered today but neither one is hooked up. I never realized how much I love having clean clothes and I'd really like to have them again.

I am so excited for the Opening Ceremonies tonight! I'm getting a ton of Chinese food and watching them, yay for food!, yay for different cultures coming together! Have you guys seen the Olympic venues in China? They are amazing!
The Aquatic Center

Wukesong Center
This one is my favorite. The Beijing National Stadium or the Bird's Nest is where the opening and closing ceremonies as well as track & field events will be held. Isn't it pretty?

I leave for Florida on Monday. I am super pumped. I LOVE flying.

I have spent close to a week searching for this commercial online. I saw it for the first time last Saturday and it just made me bawl. I made everyone in my family watch it with me as I cried and cried. Sorry for its condition. Its the only one I could find. But I really wanted to share.

I am so excited for 08/08/08! Here are the other commercials from the same series.

I just saw the Michael Phelps' commercial but it wasn't very good. They filmed all new material of him swimming and it was about him being part fish with funky music in the background. Blah!

ETA: I forgot to add this one. I like the music box melody that plays and I think the way her body bends is so cool.

The Tigers won!!! by like 16. It was crazy. I went to get an elephant ear and when I came back the score was 19-3. It was weird for me because I'm used to the Tigers losing every time I go to Comerica Park. Detroit was really cool. There was a party at every corner. People at the game were wearing Pistons & Red Wings jerseys. A ton of people had radios so they could listen to the other games. Oh, and I got my beer which made me really happy.

But best conversation all night was this:
Announcer: "Comerica Park is a family friendly environment. Please respect this policy"
My Family: "Damn. Booo!!! What the hell? This sucks."
I love my family.

Oh and here is another reason I'm sad I no longer live in Europe: EUROVISION! This year's winner was Russia with the song "Believe" by Dima Bilan! Here's the video:

Oh and because no post is complete without food. We are eating Brunch today at Jake's. Here is the menu. I don't even know what to choose.

I ended up making lemon cupcakes with lemon frosting because those are my dad's favorites. But I was inspired by all those Top Chef marathons I've been watching lately. So I reserved some of the cupcakes and frosted them with Dark Chocolate Fudge frosting! I add some pictures here but my digital camera is broken as well as my brother's so y'all are just going to have to imagine how perfect they were.

We are off to the Detroit Tigers game tonight. I was told that the Tigers, Pistons, and Wings are all playing home tonight so this should be pretty interesting. But I'm most excited for a hotdog, an elephant ear and my first Comerica Park beer! I've been looking forward to this for a long time! Oh and FIREWORKS!!!
