#244

The G20 officially starts tomorrow. Businesses in the neighborhood are boarding up their windows. Signs declaring 'Pittsburgh welcomes the world!' have appeared. I saw a few protesters today. Though sadly, most of the protesters remind me of the dirty, smelly people who hung out near the Perpignan train station.
I'm really excited. This is going to be fun.

I found this visitor's guide to Pittsburgh. It makes me laugh because it is all soo soo true.

Some people are worried about what might happen. Protests getting out of control. Violence and tear gas. I figure it can't be any worse than Europe and their protests. And besides the police officers, who have been assigned to the local grocery stores and schools, aren't even carrying AK-47s.

Awwww. France protesters. I have such a fondness for them. They made life so interesting. Sometimes politics here are so boring, a good protest can shake things up. (Sort of like the tea party or town hall protests made people examine the issues, even if I didn't agree with what the protesters wanted.)

I LOVE the vistor's guide to PGH.

One of the girls from AQ french class posted a link to a site that was accumulating pictures, videos, and tweets of what's happening in PGH. One of the tweets was to this blog which I thought gave a very good overview of the situation (I'm not there of course, but it makes sense with what you've told me.) Hopefully, with the summit ending today, everyone can stop acting so silly.
